Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in attendance at Kevin Costner‘s big charity event.

On Friday (September 22), the 68-year-old Yellowstone actor hosted the One805LIVE! Fall 2023 Fundraiser at his beachfront estate in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the event alongside Oprah Winfrey.

Kevin is an ambassador for One805, which provides financial aid and mental health support to first responders.

During the event, Harry and Meghan appeared onstage and presented Kevin with an award.

Kevin‘s ex-wife Christine Baumgartner was also listed as a host for the event on the One805, but it’s unclear if she was in attendance as she didn’t appear in any photos.

Earlier in the week, it was revealed that Kevin and Christine, 49, had settled their divorce.

Kevin‘s legal team previously won a series of legal battles after Laura Wasser submitted paperwork to the court saying his monthly obligation should be $63,000 a month, as opposed to Christine‘s request for $248,000 a month.

After a two day evidentiary hearing in Santa Barbara earlier this month, Judge Thomas Anderle took Kevin‘s side, via TMZ.

The judge also made it clear that their prenuptial agreement would be enforced, and if Christine challenged it, she would have to repay Kevin more than $1 million and pay his attorney’s fees for the prenup legal battle.

She reportedly agreed over the weekend to the terms of a three-page settlement letter.

Per Puck, via Town & Country, the issue of Kevin‘s exit lies in his contract with a very rare clause.

It’s believed that Taylor had written most of the ending episodes of the series already, without Kevin‘s John Dutton in them, which hinted at an exit of the character. However, Kevin has a clause in his contract where he had a say in just how John would be written out.

Referred to as a “moral death” provision, the clause reportedly gives Kevin a provision to approve or veto any possible way that John Dutton can and cannot be killed on the show.

“In particular precluding methods what would cause shame or embarrassment to the character,” the clause, a rare one to include in many actors contracts, reads.

Taylor previously spoke about how John Dutton wouldn’t be dying in an interview with THR, and fans are in understanding that a car crash is off the table.

With this clause in place in Kevin‘s contract, which he’s not under any more because of its expiration, it’s also clear why he says that he would go to court over it.

There’s no set date for the back half of Yellowstone‘s season 5 to pick up filming, or a premiere date in sight.

Speaking outside of the courtroom in Santa Barbara, Calif. on Friday (September 1), Kevin told reporters, “This is a horrible place to be, but this is where we’re at,” according to People. “We’re talking about somebody I love on the other side. I just can’t,” Kevin added.

When a reporter asked if he “still has love” for Christine, Kevin replied, “Of course.”

Kevin and Christine married in 2004 and have three children together: 16-year-old Cayden, 14-year-old Hayes, and 13-year-old Grace.

During the two-day hearing, a judge ruled that Kevin must pay Christine $63,209 per month for child support, a decrease from the temporary monthly payments of $129,755 Kevin was ordered to pay in July.

The week of the hearing, Christine filed a request to increase the payments to $175,057, which was modified to $161,592 on Thursday. While speaking on the stand, Christine emphasized her children’s attachment to their Santa Barbara compound, stating that they’re “very connected to the ocean — it’s their home.”

During his turn on the stand, Kevin said, “My biggest concern is that the court orders me to pay child support that is above the needs of my children and for the needs of Christine.”

He added that there were “no scripts written” for the second part of season 5 and they “still hadn’t finished” the first half of the season at the time. They opted to do a “pay or play” which didn’t work and he was expected to be paid $12 million for each part of season 5.

While he wanted to come back for the sixth season, Kevin felt he “couldn’t help them any more. We tried to negotiate, they offered me less money than previous seasons, there were issues with the creative…”

He shared that before walking away from the show, he asked his reps to “have them pay me whatever number, we came up with a number, and they [Yellowstone] walked away.” He added that he believes that number was $12 million.

“I’ve been told it’s a little disappointing that [it’s] the #1 show on TV, I’m not participating,” he said.

Kevin was then asked if he was set to receive a payout from the second part of Yellowstone season 5 and he replied, “I will probably go to court over it.”

“Oh good, we’ll have to have a treasure hunt to find it,” he had seemingly joked on the stand.

In his passing by interview, Kevin told the outlet that he didn’t mean his comment to be any kind of funny.

“Were you laughing? I wasn’t,” he said. “This is a horrible place to be but this is where we’re at.”

Kevin added, “It feels so bad, we’re talking about somebody I love on the other side… I just can’t.”

He also stated that he still has love for Christine, who is the mother of three of his children, and he hoped the divorce would be finalized soon.

People noted that Christine‘s lawyer John Rydell presented a lower amount of child support that they’d accept – $161,592. They claimed that Kevin brought in an average of $19,248,467 over the last two years.

Assuming he was earning more than $1.6 million a month and that the parents maintained 50/50 custody, Christine should theoretically be entitled to $175,057. It’s not clear why they settled on the reduced request.

Either way, they made it clear that more funds would be needed.

John told the court that the children were so accustomed to their lavish lifestyle that it’s “in their DNA at this point.” In fact, Christine argued that the funds would not be enough to equal the lifestyle the children were used to.

“$175,057 per month will not be sufficient to replicate Kevin’s lifestyle, but it will be sufficient to allow her to provide a lifestyle for the children which is relatively comparable,” court documents read.

The couple filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage in May 2023. Christine recently revealed if Kevin‘s hit show Yellowstone attributed to the split.

Based on this cash flow, and a 50/50 parenting time share, the guideline child support, which is presumptively correct under California law, is $175,057 per month.”

“Christine brings this request in order to uphold these Family Law principles and to assure that the parties’ three minor children will continue to have the benefit of the lifestyle that has been made possible by Kevin’s substantial earnings and wealth,” the filing continues.

It also notes that Kevin‘s “various accounts and entities had a total of $17,293,117 in cash equivalents as of June 30, 2023, giving him ample funds to pay his support and also to pay the attorneys’ fees and costs for both parties.”

“$175,057 per month will not be sufficient to replicate Kevin’s lifestyle, but it will be sufficient to allow her to provide a lifestyle for the children which is relatively comparable,” per the docs.

“Christine avoids answering many of the Requests for Admission (‘RFAs’) based on the claim that the ordinary words used, words like ‘understood’ and ‘negotiation’ are too vague,” his lawyers continued.

The docs add that Christine “cannot admit or deny an RFA because she does not understand the word ‘understood.’”

Now, a judge has formally ruled on the offer of $129,000 in monthly support.

TMZ adds that the ruling is still pending and both Kevin and Christine will have a chance to present their arguments in a hearing.

The newest court documents say that the two will each be responsible for covering 50% of health care expenses for their kids, plus the cost of private school tuition and any extracurricular activities.

According to new documents that were filed just days ago, Christine clapped back at Kevin who implied that he is “doing the most [he] can reasonably do to make a divorce as seamless as possible for our children”, and she also added that his offer is “completely inappropriate.”

She then argued and share receipt of her claims over the amount.

Apparently, one of the guest houses on their beach home rents for $68,000, and Christine also claimed that Kevin has his own monthly expenses when the children are with him as $240,000.

“He apparently expects his children to live far below his economic circumstances when they are with their mother,” the paperwork reads. “While he resides in his $100,000,000+ beachside compound and spends at least $240,000 per month on himself (with the children with him about 40 percent of the time), he thinks that his wife and their children should live on only 20 percent of that amount.”

Christine also adds that the biggest element of the child support is finding a home where their kids can be close to Kevin, as well as their school.

“They are entitled to have one home that is somewhat comparable to one of the three multi-million-dollar residences which make up the Beach Club Compound,” the documents went on. “I cannot provide housing and care for the children at anything close to their accustomed lifestyle with the $51,000/mo. Kevin proposes to pay in child support.”

She notes that it’s not just the housing the money would cover, but also utilities, a security system, furniture, and more.

Christine is also asking Kevin to cover all of the costs pertaining to their kids’ healthcare, private schooling and extracurricular activities, plus attorney’s fees.

The couple are ending their marriage after 18 years together, and just recently, a judge ruled in the decision about when Christine should be out of their family home.

As the battle turns to child support, an insider close to Christine claimed that “she wants Kevin to provide what they are used to.”

According to court documents obtained by People, Kevin found the request to be “highly inflated and unsubstantiated.”

He claimed that his payment should be around $123,620 each month, which is still much higher than the $38,000 he initially proposed. The estimate appears to be based on his net worth, which Kevin‘s team is presenting as $250 million. Christine‘s team is claiming that it’s closer to $400 million.

“Providing the minor children with more than bare necessities does not require providing ludicrous extravagance designed to primarily benefit the supported parent,” the documents continued. “Christine allocates 60% of expenses such as private trainer, unallocated credit-card expenses, and her plastic surgery to the minor children without any explanation or basis. The children do not use the services of private trainers, only Christine does.”

In regards to plastic surgery, he alleged that she spend $188,500 each month on services.

Christine‘s lawyer is claiming that Kevin “seeks to kick Christine and their three children out of the house that the children have lived in for their entire lives” in court documents obtained by Insider.

“Although the legal basis for Kevin‘s request to kick his wife and children out of their home is all but nonexistent, this is still a matter of critical importance for Christine,” the documents continued.

Meanwhile, a source close to Kevin told People that the claim was “disingenuous.”

“This has nothing to do with the kids. The kids’ foundation is solid. This is all about Christine. Kevin has gone above and beyond in providing Christine the necessary means to find a suitable place for her to move,” they said.
