The Mean Girls musical movie will be coming the a theater near you instead of premiering on Paramount+ as initially planned. How grool is that?!
The musical retelling of the hit movie stars Renee Rapp as Regina George, the ruler of the popular group known as the Plastics, and Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, who was once played by Lindsay Lohan.
Deadline confirmed that the movie was getting a theatrical release and revealed a premiere date.

The cast of the upcoming Mean Girls: The Musical movie is shaping up and there are now 10 actors announced for the Paramount+ film.
The teen cast of the movie was rounded out a few days ago and now two original stars from the 2004 movie have joined the lineup as well.
The musical film is based on the hit Broadway show from a few years ago. Tina Fey is returning as the writer of the movie musical and she will produce the film for Paramount. She received a Tony Award nomination for writing the musical’s book and her husband Jeff Richmond co-wrote the music.
The 2004 movie version of Mean Girls, which starred Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams, was a hit at the box office and became a cult phenomenon.
Here is the synopsis: “Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.”

The stars of the hit Broadway musical A Strange Loop are at the Tonys!
Jaquel Spivey, who is nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical, hit the red carpet at the 2022 Tony Awards on Sunday (June 12) at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
He was joined at the show by co-stars L Morgan Lee, John-Andrew Morrison, and Antwayn Hopper, as well as writer Michael R. Jackson.
Lee is up for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical, marking the first time an openly transgender performer has been nominated, and Morrison is nominated for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical.
Jackson is nominated for both Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical.
A Strange Loop is also up for Best Musical!

Jaquel Spivey and the cast of Broadway’s hot new musical A Strange Loop hit the stage for a performance on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week!
The cast performed the song “Inner White Girl” during an appearance on the late night show on Thursday (May 12) in New York City.
The show’s composer Michael R. Jackson appeared on the talk show for an interview before the performance.
Earlier in the day, the show’s Tony-nominated stars Jaquel Spivey, L Morgan Lee and John-Andrew Morrison attended a Meet the Nominees event for the upcoming Tony Awards.
A Strange Loop received 11 Tony nominations this week, more than any other show on Broadway. The musical is currently running at the Lyceum Theatre.

A Strange Loop‘s Jaquel Spivey, Paradise Square‘s Joaquina Kalukango, and MJ‘s Myles Frost were among the nominees who were in attendance at the press junket.
Jaquel is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical and he was joined by co-stars L Morgan Lee and John-Andrew Morrison, who are up for Featured Actress and Featured Actor, respectively.
Joaquina is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical and she was joined by co-stars Sidney DuPont and A.J. Shively, who are both nominated for Featured Actor.
