'Mean Girls' Musical Movie Starring Renee Rapp & More Headed to Theaters Instead of Paramount+

The Mean Girls musical movie will be coming the a theater near you instead of premiering on Paramount+ as initially planned. How grool is that?!

The musical retelling of the hit movie stars Renee Rapp as Regina George, the ruler of the popular group known as the Plastics, and Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, who was once played by Lindsay Lohan.

Deadline confirmed that the movie was getting a theatrical release and revealed a premiere date.

'Mean Girls' Movie Musical Cast: 10 Actors Revealed, Including Two Stars From Original Movie!

The cast of the upcoming Mean Girls: The Musical movie is shaping up and there are now 10 actors announced for the Paramount+ film.

The teen cast of the movie was rounded out a few days ago and now two original stars from the 2004 movie have joined the lineup as well.

The musical film is based on the hit Broadway show from a few years ago. Tina Fey is returning as the writer of the movie musical and she will produce the film for Paramount. She received a Tony Award nomination for writing the musical’s book and her husband Jeff Richmond co-wrote the music.

The 2004 movie version of Mean Girls, which starred Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams, was a hit at the box office and became a cult phenomenon.

Here is the synopsis: “Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.”

Rebel Wilson Glitters in a Green Gown at a Special Screening of 'Senior Year' in West Hollywood

Rebel Wilson is all smiles at a special screening of her new film Senior Year at The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills on Tuesday (May 10) in West Hollywood, Calif.

The 42-year-old actress looked gorgeous in a green Jason Wu gown and posed alongside her co-star Justin Hartley, who was joined by his wife Sofia Pernas.

Also at the event were fellow cast members Alicia Silverstone, Zaire Adams, Angourie Rice, Michael Cimino, Alex Hardcastle, Ana Yi Puig, Todd Garner, Joshua Colley, Avantika, Tyler Barnhardt, Molly Brown, Jade Bender, Brandon Scott Jones, Zoe Chao, Mary Holland and Chris Parnell.

In Senior Year, Rebel plays a cheerleader who falls off a pyramid and into a 20 year coma. After she wakes up as a 37-year-old woman, she’s ready to return to high school, regain her status and claim the prom queen crown that eluded her.

The film will premiere on Netflix on May 13, 2022 and you can check out the trailer here.
