Walker Scobell embarks upon an epic quest in the newly released teaser trailer for the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The 14-year-old actor is set to bring Percy Jackson to life in the eight-episode show, which premieres on the streamer later this year. Based on the novels by Rick Riordan, Walker is playing a young demigod who is sent off to find Zeus’ master lightning bolt.

He does so with the assistance of Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries).

The teaser trailer introduces the characters and sets up the plot.

Get ready for the premiere of the new original Percy Jackson and the Olympians series!

In honor of Percy Jackson’s birthday on Friday (August 18), Disney+ debuted the first teaser for the upcoming series, and revealed the show’s premiere date.

The show stars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Timm Sharp, Dior Goodjohn, Adam Copeland, Jay Duplass, Toby Stephens, the late Lance Reddick, Charlie Bushnell, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Olivea Morton, Suzanne Cryer, Timothy Omundson, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has a new musical on the way and it will mark his first major Broadway show since Hamilton!

The Tony Award-winning actor and composer is reportedly working on a stage musical adaptation of the 1965 novel The Warriors by Sol Yurick. The book was later turned into a 1979 movie.

The news was first reported by The New York Post and sources have confirmed Lin‘s involvement to Variety.

Lin debuted his musical Hamilton on Broadway in 2015 and it has gone on to become one of the biggest musical phenomenons of all time. He later returned to Broadway by creating the show Freestyle Love Supreme and by providing additional lyrics to New York, New York, but this will mark his first proper return to the artform.

The official description of the book says the story “chronicles one New York City gang’s nocturnal journey through the seedy, dangerous subways and city streets of the 1960s. Every gang in the city meets on a sweltering July 4 night in a Bronx park for a peace rally. The crowd of miscreants turns violent after a prominent gang leader is killed and chaos prevails over the attempt at order.”

Lin also worked on a big Disney project recently!

The stars are stepping out for another day at Wimbledon!

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra were seen holding hands as they arrived at the Women’s Singles Finals during the 2023 Wimbledon Tennis Championships on Saturday (July 15) held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England.

Czech player Marketa Vondrousova defeated Tunisian player Ons Jabeur to win the title in the Women’s Singles Finals, 6-4, 6-4.

Some of Broadway’s brightest were recognized at the 2023 Drama Desk Awards!

Jessica Chastain and Jodie Comer both stepped out to accept their awards at the ceremony on Tuesday afternoon (June 6) at Sardi’s restaurant in New York City.

Jessica and Sean Hayes accepted their co-wins for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Play for their work in A Doll’s House and Good Night, Oscar.

Jodie won the award for Outstanding Solo Performance for Prima Facie.

Also in attendance were Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical winners Annaleigh Ashford from Sweeney Todd and J. Harrison Ghee from Some Like It Hot, Outstanding Featured Performance in a Play winner Miriam Silverman from The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window, and Outstanding Direction of a Musical winner Thomas Kail with friend Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Alan Menken, who composed Disney’s most recognizable scores and songs, really enjoyed collaborating with Lin-Manuel Miranda on the live-action version of The Little Mermaid.

For the first song they worked on together, Alan said, “We discussed with [director] Rob Marshall what he wanted. One was the Prince Eric song, called ‘Wild Uncharted Waters.’ Then, there was the song for Ariel when she has her legs (doesn’t have a voice), and she’s singing her thoughts about all the firsts she is noticing for the first time.”

Alan added, “there was a number called ‘Scuttlebutt’ for Scuttle and Sebastian.”
