Following the release of the original image, which featured the politician posing in Converse sneakers, fans called out the fashion magazine for the casual image.

Sources close to her camp said her team was “blindsided” by the cover after being told they’d use an image of her in a Michael Kors powder blue suit, which ended up only being used for the digital cover.

On Tuesday, Vogue confirmed on social media that the image would be printed, and gave a statement to Page Six.

“In recognition of the enormous interest in the digital cover, and in celebration of this historic moment, we will be publishing a limited number of special edition inaugural issues,” the magazine announced.

A source told the outlet it was a “gesture of goodwill combined with excitement about being able to publish this cover in time for this special day.”

Here’s what Anna Wintour said about the photography controversy.

'Vogue' Confirms Kamala Harris Cover Is Real Amid Backlash on Social Media

The cover is real!

Amid backlash on social media, Vogue confirmed on Sunday (December 10) that the image of Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris floating around social media one day before is, in fact, one of the two real covers for the fashion magazine’s latest issue.

“Vice President-elect @KamalaHarris is our February cover star! Making history was the first step. Now Harris has an even more monumental task: to help heal a fractured America—and lead it out of crisis,” the brand announced on social media.

A low-resolution image of the Vice President-Elect on the magazine cover first floated through social media Saturday night (January 9), garnering some strong negative initial reactions from users regarding the lighting, outfit and backdrop.

Kamala Harris also went viral on social media recently after people realized she briefly dated someone famous years ago.

Social Media Reacts to Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris' 'Vogue' Cover

Kamala Harris is on the next cover of Vogue, and social media is reacting to the cover.

Journalist Yashar Ali weighed in on the image on Twitter: “Some fashion magazine news….1. The February Vogue cover featuring VP-elect Kamala Harris has been widely criticized on social media this evening. But according to a source familiar with the publication plans, this is not the cover that the Vice President-elect’s team expected,” he wrote.

“2. In the cover that they expected, Vice President-elect Harris was wearing a powder blue suit. That was the cover that the Vice President-elect’s team and the Vogue team, including Anna Wintour, mutually agreed upon…which is standard for fashion magazines,” he continued.

“3. To be clear, this Vogue cover of Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is real. It’s just that per a source familiar, this is not the cover that was mutually agreed upon. The agreed upon cover had VP-elect Harris in a powder blue suit. So folks feel blindsided this evening.”

The outlet later revealed on Sunday (January 10) that the cover was, in fact, real.

Kamala Harris also went viral on social media recently after people realized she briefly dated someone famous years ago.

Frances McDormand, First 'Vogue' Star of 2021, Opens Up About Being on the Cover at 63

Frances McDormand is Vogue‘s first cover star of 2021!

Here’s what the 63-year-old Nomadland actress had to say…

On playing Fern in Nomadland: “With Fern, it’s kind of like Shane, or John Wayne’s character in The Searchers. These men that don’t seem to have a past, only a present, and no future. They just arrive fully formed and they disappear. Except with Fern, because she’s female, she’s got a lot of stuff with her. She’s got a whole van full of memories. Women don’t necessarily come out of nowhere.”

On director Chloe Zhao and the similarities between her and her character:: “She [Zhao] incorporated a lot of my truth into Fern’s truth.”

On what it means to be on the cover of a fashion magazine at 63: “To still be culturally relevant as a 63-year-old female is so deeply, deeply gratifying. It’s something that I could have never expected, given what I was told. And I believe I had something to do with it. I’ve crafted some part of this moment in time. And I’m really f–king proud.”

There’s a lot of buzz about Frances‘ new movie – find out why!
