Every 'Today Show' Host Ranked by Longest Tenure, Ranging From 1 Year to 20 Years

NBC’s Today has been on the air since the early 1950s and many of the show’s lead anchors have stuck around for many years!

Throughout the 71 years of the program’s history, there have only been 16 hosts who have sat in the lead anchor chairs. For the first 14 years of the run, there was only one lead anchor until Barbara Walters became a co-anchor and the show’s first female anchor.

Including current co-anchors Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, eight men and eight women have served as the primary anchors on Today. While many of them have held roles on the show for years, we’re only counting their years as lead anchors for this ranking.

So Many A-List Celebs Were at Taylor Swift's 5th L.A. Show of 'Eras Tour' - Full List Revealed!

Taylor Swift has now performed five shows in Los Angeles as part of the Eras Tour and there have been over 100 celebs spotted throughout the five nights.

The fifth show of the L.A. run took place on Tuesday night (August 8) at SoFi Stadium and we spotted more than 20 stars in the crowd, including so many A-List celebs.

If you didn’t know already, most of the celebs get to sit in special VIP tents that are situated around the floor section, though some of them will often buy their own tickets and sit in the stands with fans, or in private suites around the stadium.

NBC‘s Today is one of the most popular, longest-running morning news shows in the history of television, and has been on since the early ’50s.

The series, which slowly expanded through the week to include weekend coverage by the early ’90s, features an impressive array of established industry veterans and trusted journalists. And as of 2023, there are about a dozen anchors who helm the show and supply the breaking news throughout the week, many of whom have become household names.
