Dan Levy Recruits Luke Evans, Ruth Negga & More For 'Good Grief' Directorial Debut

Dan Levy has stacked the cast of his upcoming directorial debut, Good Grief.

The 39-year-old actor and filmmaker has cast Luke Evans, Ruth Negga and Himesh Patel for vital roles in his upcoming film. Dan will also act in the movie.

Celia Imrie, Arnaud Valois, David Bradley, and Jamael Westman will also star in the project, via Entertainment Weekly.

Good Grief follows Marc Dreyfus, who has chosen to distract himself from the loss of his mom with a comfortable marriage. But when his husband also dies, unexpectedly, Marc is forced to finally confront the grief he’s tried so hard to avoid, sending him and his two closest friends on a Parisian weekend of self discovery.

Good Grief is a cautionary tale about friendship and loss and all the mess that comes with it when the truth is something you’ve evaded for most of your life,” Dan shared in a statement. “It’s funny, it’s bittersweet, it’s a project that has helped me work through my own grief. And I hope it does the same for other people as well.”

Dan, who also wrote the script, will produce with his Not A Real Production Company partner Megan Zehmer, and Sister’s Stacey Snider, Kate Fenske, and Debra Hayward.

'Don't Look Up' Character Posters Highlight Star-Studded Netflix Cast!

The Don’t Look Character posters have arrived!

Here’s a synopsis of the movie: Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem — it’s on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. Turns out warning mankind about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is an inconvenient fact to navigate. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it’s too late proves shockingly comical — what will it take to get the world to just look up?!

Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi (aka Kid Cudi), Himesh Patel, Melanie Lynskey, Michael Chiklis and Tomer Sisley also star.

The movie will be out in select theaters on December 10 ahead of its release on Netflix on December 24.
