Sunny Hostin is addressing some controversial comments she made about her co-hosts on The View during a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live.

If you missed it, the 54-year-old star accused Whoopi Goldberg of farting the most out of the group.

She also weighed in on Meghan McCain‘s comments about The View in a recently published essay, which slammed the show and made some big accusations.

During an appearance on Radio Andy, she revealed how her current co-host felt about the fart comments, and Andy Cohen spilled some tea about Meghan.

During her second interview with Andy, Sunny admitted that Whoopi “didn’t like” the fart comments, especially because the claim apparently isn’t true.

Sunny passed the blame to Sara Haines, but it doesn’t sound like she’s gassy either. She just drinks too much water, and her cups make a fart sound on the table when they get moved.

“So Whoopi, in an effort to kind of cover that up, was like, ‘Sorry y’all. That was me,’ and I just took her at her word,” Sunny explained. “I didn’t know it was Sara with all the waters. She should only have one cup of water anyway. We all have one cup, and Sara has three. It just turned into this big thing and so Whoopi said, ‘Why did you tell everybody I fart all the time?’ and I was like, ‘Because you joke about farting all the time.’”

She continued, saying, “I’m across from the table. I can’t smell it. I don’t know … whoever, you know, smelt it dealt it, so I just had no idea.”

That doesn’t mean there’s any bad blood. Sunny added that she and Whoopi are “very close” and remain that way.

In regards to Meghan, she said that she was surprised her former co-host didn’t reach out to her directly with complaints after the interview. Instead, she texted Andy. He said that she was “unhappy.”

“She never reached out to me. I just assumed she would just text me, but she has not,” Sunny said, adding that she didn’t say “anything negative.”

What was Andy‘s response to Meghan? “It is what it is.”

Meghan McCain went in on her time on The View in a revealing new essay.

The 38-year-old acted as a conservative voice on the show for several years before leaving in 2021. She reflected on the show, her experiences with it and more after Rosie O’Donnell spoke negatively about her own time as a host.

In an essay on the Daily Mail, Meghan revealed a topic she wasn’t allowed to discuss on air, conversations she had with other former hosts about the show and what she thought it took to “survive” there.

“I imagine being a former co-host of ABC News’ The View feels much like having a very public, very nasty breakup with an infamous ex-boyfriend. Everyone knows it ended in complete disaster. And absolutely everyone wants to talk about it,” Meghan opened her essay.

On the topic of Rosie, she added that it was always “validating” when other hosts spoke negatively about The View.

“Now, Rosie O’Donnell and I probably don’t agree on much. But here we’re in sync. There is nothing on God’s green earth that could convince me to ever walk on to that set again,” she said.

Meghan added that they weren’t alone in that thought, but many other hosts choose not to speak publicly.

“Rosie, Jenny McCarthy, and I have chosen to speak out publicly about our stints on the show. But here’s a secret, behind closed doors I’ve never actually heard an ex-host have anything positive to say,” she alleged.

Taking it a step further, she revealed a topic she wanted to broach that was off limits for her: “In 2019, Democratic Virginia Governor Ralph Northam confessed (and then a day, suddenly recanted the admission) to being the white man pictured wearing blackface in a photo published in his 35-year-old medical school yearbook.”

“It was the number one story in the country and a major scandal considering that Northam is the member of a party that offers no safe harbor to political opponents caught violating social norms,” she continued. “The Northam story was – what you call in the industry – a talker.”

She added the problem, saying, “But we weren’t allowed to talk about it because of Whoopi [Goldberg] and Joy Behar.” The latter had a photo of herself where she was “wearing makeup to darken her skin for a Halloween costume in the 1970s” emerge. Whoopi‘s ex Ted Danson had also engaged in blackface and used racial slurs during a 1993 appearance.

“I write this to explain that topics were spiked because of scandals from my co-hosts’ past. I always thought the decision was ridiculous and made it look like we were not able to handle serious subjects,’ she opined.

How can you make it on The View? Meghan had thoughts.

“The only way to survive on that show is to be vanilla pudding. Say nothing controversial with the elites, bow down, and don’t actually do the job you were hired to do, which is voice your authentic opinions,” she wrote. “Rosie worked on the show during a different era – but it seems that she wasn’t the exact right flavor either.”

The use of Ozempic for weight loss has caused a shortage that has resulted in a shortage for diabetes patients who actually need the medication.

“I was just pregnant for 9 months. I’ll take a pass on that,” she added.

On Friday (January 20), the 38-year-old former co-host on The View, and the daughter of the late Senator John McCain, announced that she and husband Ben Domenech welcomed their second baby girl.

In an announcement with The Daily Mail, Meghan revealed that she and Ben, 41, named their new baby girl Clover Jade.

“Yesterday morning, we welcomed our newest addition, Clover Jade McCain Domenech, to our family!” Meghan shared. “Ben and I are overjoyed to introduce Liberty to her baby sister and start this new adventure as a family.”

Ben added, “Meghan’s strength and love for our daughters is boundless. I feel so blessed that her and Clover are both doing well and I cannot wait for our entire family to meet our baby girl.”

Meghan and Ben – who have been married since 2017 – welcomed their first daughter Liberty Sage in September of 2020.

Whoopi Goldberg is opening up about The View set after the exit of Meghan McCain in 2021.

In a new interview with Page Six, the 66-year-old Oscar winner admitted that the vibe on the set of the talk show has been calmer.

“It’s calmer because nobody wants to be that tired every day,” she shared when asked about the new season, which is without Meghan, and instead, has added Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farrah Griffin to the table.

Whoopi added, “We’ve always had disagreements and stuff, but this one was a little bit different. I think [the show], it’s better. I feel it’s better, but I’m still tired!”

“People felt like they wanted to go home,” she said, speaking of the dynamic behind the scenes versus on camera. “There was no point in fighting. You do what you do and you go home and do what you love to do. And hopefully, everybody is now happier.”

While Meghan has strained relationships with Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, she did say that she still has a close bond with Sunny Hostin.

“Sunny is one of the greatest TV presences in all of television. I keep telling her she should have her own show,” Meghan shared on Stitcher’s Reality With the King podcast. “I don’t know why MSNBC isn’t trying to poach her for Rachel Maddow’s spot.”

“She’s by far the most politically savvy person on that show,” Meghan continued. “And extremely curious in a way I didn’t find anyone else I worked with. Like, curious about different aspects of politics.”

Outside of her politics viewpoints, Meghan went on to gush about the respect she has for Sunny, calling her “a really good person.”

“She’s the only cast member I still have a relationship with,” she continued. “I have such love for her and respect for her. She’s a really good person and she didn’t demonize me the way a lot of other people did, for whatever that’s worth.”

Meghan served as a co-host on The View from 2017 until leaving in 2021.

Later in interview, Meghan explained why she hasn’t watched the show since leaving.

“It was a privilege to be on for four years. I have moved on. I don’t watch the show at all. It doesn’t really enter my lexicon that often, even just the feeds I follow on Twitter and the news I read and the pop culture I consume,” Meghan shared. “Most of the pop culture I consume, it’s a lot of Housewives, so I don’t watch anymore and it would be too weird to watch.”

She added, “I don’t miss it and I think it’s because I had such a hard time my last season. It was a really hard time in my life. I’ve been really open, in my book, about what happened. I felt like I owed it to give more context to my experience. I think my experience on the show suffered a lot with COVID and Zoom. I think it’s a lot easier to hate someone through a box and through a screen and to not understand where they’re coming from.”

It all started when Meghan posted a Valentine’s Day tweet to her husband Ben Domenech.

“Happy Valentines Day @bdomenech – I love you and am grateful every day for the life we have together,” Meghan captioned the pic.

McCain said, “James Comey was so slick and rehearsed that he was a terrible guest,” she said of the former FBI director, then said that news host Rachel Maddow was the “same.”

She then said, “Nathan Lane was a d–k,” she said. “It made me so mad because I loved him before I met him.”

However, the worst guest of all was apparently Fox News host Jeanine Pirro.

“She came on the show and told us we all had Trump Derangement Syndrome, and when we pushed back, she became instantly enraged,” Meghan wrote.

“Jamie Lee Curtis is one of the most wonderful angel ladies,” she said. “Terry Crews has always been an incredible guest. Tyler Perry is lovely, smart and so supportive…he has this miraculous energy about him, it’s gravitational.”

“You can’t imagine how it messes with your self-esteem working in an environment where the worst thing you can be in the world is a Republican during the Trump years. As the country got worse under Trump, the treatment from Whoopi, Joy and some of the staff grew meaner and less forgiving,” she wrote.

“It was as if I had become an avatar for everything they hated about the president. It felt like the co-hosts and staff only knew one Republican — me — and took out all their anger on me, even though I didn’t even vote for Trump.”

She also said she felt Whoopi turned on her over the years.

“The thing about Whoopi, though, is that she yields so much power in culture and television, and once she turns on you, it can create unfathomable tension at the table. I found her open disdain for me more and more difficult to manage as the years went on and it became more frequent. Occasionally, if the show’s political discourse veered into territory that she found disagreeable, Whoopi would cut me off, sometimes harshly.”

Meghan also discussed her tension with Joy.

“After my dad died, I heard Joy had told others at The View that she couldn’t understand how I could still defend Republicans after everything Trump had done to me. Why was that something she had to worry about? I could separate the two. I could separate Trump from being a Republican,” she said.

But it was her return to the show after giving birth last year that sealed the deal.

“As I was dealing with my own emotions, I couldn’t also navigate the idea that I was hated and felt hated at a toxic work environment,” she said, citing her second day back when she got into a fight with Joy on-air.

“To make light of things and to ease the tension, I said, ‘Joy, you missed me so much when I was on maternity leave! You missed fighting with me!’ ’I did not,’ Joy said. ‘I did not miss you. Zero.’”

She said she then burst into tears during the commercial break, and felt herself starting to lactate.

“Nothing anyone has ever said to me on camera since I have been giving interviews since I was 22 years old ever hit this hard. I felt like I’d been slapped. She yelled out at me sharp and intensely and I believed her. Now, I know I’m not always a perfect angel, but I would never speak to any woman that way who had just returned after giving birth,” she continued.

“I was embarrassed and shaking. I felt like I wasn’t in control of my body. I didn’t want millions of viewers to see that. That experience of crying and leaking and trying to pull it together in seconds so I could go back on-air with women who appeared to hate me was an intensely heartbreaking experience,” she continued, deciding: “this s–t isn’t worth this. Nothing in life is worth this.”

“I want ABC to change. But I want change in America too, starting with giving pregnant women paid maternity leave. Corporations should not be allowed to say, ‘We support women, blah blah blah, but if you have a baby, we’re not going to support you.’ These companies spend millions of dollars a year trying to convince consumers of their high moral values, but how many of them actually walk the talk? It needs to change.”

According to People, the 59-year-old actress will star in a new Lifetime movie which is being produced by Meghan McCain.

The flick will be based on “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff” by Kristine Carlson and her husband, Dr. Richard Carlson.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff: The Kristine Carlson Story will center on Kristine (Locklear) as her world crumbles after the unexpected death of her spouse (Jason MacDonald).

Natasha Bure and Emily Rose will also star in the movie.

The View has confirmed rumors that they’re in talks with Debbie Matenopoulos on her return to the long-running daytime talk show.

The confirmation came after a Daily Mail article stated that ABC was talking with Debbie‘s reps following the announcement that Meghan McCain was leaving the show.

If you don’t know, Debbie was an original cast member of the show and hired just after she graduated college in 1997 at the age of 21. She left in 1999.

Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones and Joy Behar were the other four original stars.

“Debbie will always have a fond place in her heart for The View, the show that launched her career as a 21-year-old straight out of NYU,” Debbie‘s rep shared in a statement via Deadline.

They added, “Her rep has, in fact, been having conversations with senior executives at ABC News over the past few months about many things, including her participation in celebrating the 25th season of The View, and she appreciates all the interest in her returning.”

Should she return, Debbie would reunite with Joy, as well as join moderator Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin.

Debbie was also the host of Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family.

Meghan McCain is speaking out.

The 36-year-old co-host of The View revealed last week that she is leaving the show after four years, and now she’s reacting on social media.

On Thursday (July 8), Meghan spoke out on Twitter about her decision, as well as the feedback she was getting.

“So much chatter, so much gossip, so many, many, many questions people are asking me this past week,” she wrote.

“I pride myself on always taking big risks, rolling the dice, and making unpredictable life and career choices. I’ve never fit in a box and I never will,” she continued, adding: “Live free or die.”
