Jonathan Van Ness was brought to tears during their appearance on Dax Shephard‘s Armchair Expert podcast.

The Queer Eye star was a guest on the program and was taken back when the conversation turned to a tense debate over trans rights.

The debate over trans rights came after Jonathan and Dax were discussing if The New York Times was more left or right leaning, to which Jonathan argued that it was a lot more right than people think because of the paper’s content about gender-affirming care.

Dax then argued that the paper is “challenging” ideas that teens should be allowed to take hormones and blockers.

“Some people are very uncomfortable about teenagers transitioning,” he shared. “How do we know that the person’s not gonna change their mind? Then there’s another counterargument. If they kill themselves, then that’s really f***ing permanent. … To even question it makes you an enemy. I don’t think that’s the way forward.”

Jonathan, surprised at Dax‘s stance, admitted that it was like “I’m talking to my dad.”

“There’s just so many things that are so much more important and we’re over here being like, ‘Well, there’s legitimate concerns [about transgender athletes],’” Jonathan said. “All I’m saying is what we know about misinformation and disinformation is when you have an outsized reaction to something, there’s a good chance that you’re being exposed to misinformation and disinformation. And a lot of the rhetoric around the anti-trans backlash does have a lot of misinformation and disinformation in it.”

Dax continued to fight back against what Jonathan was saying, with the Queer Eye star sharing more of their disappointment surrounding the conversation when it comes to people who think they’re allies, when they are not.

“I’m a nonbinary f***ing trans person. When I talk to my dad or people who say similar things, it’s hard to be cool through that,” they continued. “I’m not calling you a transphobe. You can not be transphobic and still have thoughts that espouse trans misogyny and espouse transphobic ideologies or beliefs and not be transphobic.”

Dax did apologize, and said that he did not intend to start a debate about trans rights. It was then that Jonathan shed tears over it.

“I could just cry because I’m so tired of having to fight for little kids because they just want to be included,” they shared. “I wish that people were as passionate about little kids being able to be included or grow up as they were about fictitious women’s fairness in sports. I have to tell you I am very tired.”

“I am currently in a, like, two-month spiral of just completely out of hand financial insecurity,” Dax said. “This new fear of, ‘I’m gonna somehow be broke or I’m gonna lose everything, podcasting is gonna be over, there’s an actors strike and I’m not gonna act.’ It’s so foundationless, it’s preposterous.”

“It’s not related to reality,” he added. “It’s from growing up poor. I just can’t shake it. So, to your point, you watch your parents fight about money, you think money’s the problem. But money’s not the problem.”

“Right and you’re totally entitled to that,” she responded.

Dax then added, “It’s not going to be for me. I’m very pro-sex, I hope they’re very happy and adventurous.”

“I was freshly divorced. There was some award show or party or after party or something,” John said (via Huffington Post). “And my press agent … says: ‘There’s this girl that wants to meet you. You gotta meet her. She’s in the theater. She’s fun, you guys would be great together.’ It was Kristen.”

Dax Shepard is opening up about his family with wife Kristen Bell.

The 47-year-old actor is a proud dad to two girls – Lincoln, 9, and Delta, 7 – but initially, he only wanted to have one child.

In a new interview, Dax shared the two reasons why he and the 42-year-old actress decided to have a second child.

“We did not want a second child,” Dax admitted on The Endless Honeymoon podcast, noting that having one kid is “so much easier.”

“One [reason why] is, we travel a lot. It’s not fair to bring this little human everywhere we go and deal with only adults,” Dax continued, noting his and Kristen‘s busy work schedules.

“We owe it to her to give her a playmate that travels,” Dax explained. “We love her enough to do something we don’t really want to do, which is have a second, because we were so absolutely happy with just the one.”

As for the second reason why they decided to have a second child, Dax said he didn’t want his eldest daughter to grow up spoiled as an only child.

“So minimally to make this spoiled b—h, my first born, live in the same room as another person and have to share everything,” Dax explained. “I needed a force of compromise and sharing and discomfort because I wasn’t going to give it to her in the other ways. We just thought it would be really helpful to make her a better person to have to deal with someone else.”

Dax went on joke about how his daughters have learned to gang up on him.

“I will say the corner we’ve turned is now they party. Not only do they party together, they’re united against us, which I love,” Dax shared. “If I’m giving it to one of the girls, the other one comes over, ‘You’re not being nice to Lincoln! You didn’t listen to what she said.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s right. That’s your role. You guys gang up and kill me.’”

“When we were dating, it was when she was putting all her energy and focus into launching that in a big way,” Dax continued. “So, I was able to see her meet with design teams and, like, run her s–t and she handled her [business], and it’s very impressive.”

“You know the girls sleep on the floor of our bedroom,” Kristen began, explaining that the family likes to watch TV together as they go to bed.

The Good Place actress then explained that a few months earlier she had started to “smell a really raunchy smell.”

“I go OK, my family has gas, big D,” she recalled. “I wake up in the morning and I go, ‘Wow, nobody’s gas has dissipated, but it also smells like it’s burning.’”

When the smell didn’t go away, Kristen washed the sheets and opened up the room’s doors.

“Now, Delta, the little one, she is smell sensitive,” she continued. “So she goes, ‘You know what, I do smell it.’ Lincoln and Dax can’t be bothered, so Delta and I are, well, being gaslit.”

Dax added that he’d had the kids check their room for any dog droppings, but they didn’t find any. The couple then discovered it was their mattress that was the source of the problem.

“I lean down and smell the mattress, Dax’s corner, his feet corner of the mattress, and I almost hit the deck,” Kristen said. “I almost passed out it was so strong.”

The pair realized that their mattress pad, which is filled up with water, had accidentally been filled up with an old protein shake.

Dax Shepard had quite the difficult week earlier this month, after having the hiccups for 50 hours straight!

The 46-year-old actor revealed what he had been going through for the past couple of days by sharing a video of him, while he was still experiencing the hiccups.

After introducing her guests, The Dumb Dads podcast co-hosts Evan Kyle Berger and Kevin Laferriere, she proceeded to tell them about a time when Delta wasn’t really excited about going to bed and abandoning a toy she was playing with.

“I’m a big fan of waiting for the stink,” she laughingly said.

“Once you catch a whiff, that’s biology’s way of letting you know you need to clean it up.”

“There’s a red flag. Honestly, it’s just bacteria; once you get bacteria you gotta be like, ‘Get in the tub or the shower,’” she continued.

She also referred to friends Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher saying they only bathed their kids when they were visibly dirty, she added: “I don’t hate what they’re doing. I wait for the stink.”

“We bathed our children every single night prior to bed as their routine, then somehow they just started going to sleep on their own without their routine and we had to start saying [to each other] like, ‘Hey, when was the last time you bathed them?’” Dax added.

Kristen Bell also revealed why her daughter’s name is a “big bummer.”

Dax Shepard is buff, and he’s revealing how he did it!

During a recent episode of his Armchair Expert podcast, the 46-year-old actor explained the process behind getting ripped in quarantine to guests Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.

“Can I comment on the size of your biceps right now, Dax? You’re getting Joe Rogan arms in there. It’s phenomenal! I mean, you look like He-Man right now,” Ashton said.

“In quarantine, I said to [wife] Kristen [Bell], I’ve been waiting for 10 years for Marvel to call so that I’d have an excuse to get huge. And they’re not gonna call. That ship sailed. I’m 46, they’re not gonna call. So I just have to do it for my own amusement,” he said.

“I gained about 24 pounds, just six days a week, just lifting heavy [weights], protein shakes, going bananas, heavy testosterone injections,” he explained, with Ashton and Mila warning him about the dangers of testosterone injections.

“Mentally I love it because it makes me far more on fire to be alive. I was depressed after CHIPS. I was literally retiring, that was the plan, I’m out… This is the version [of me] I enjoy,” Dax said.

“I’m 185 on the button, baby, I’m always 185 and now I’m 210. I spent my whole life as a medium boy, and now I’m a big boy and I like it.”

He also just celebrated his wife’s birthday with a loving tribute.

Jimmy asked the two stars about their working relationship and Monica jokingly said, “Absolutely, we’re in a three-way marriage. Well, we were in a three-way marriage.”

They were asked if there’s a sexual component to the relationship and Monica jokingly replied, “Not yet.” Dax added, “Unfortunately not. It’s all the responsibilities of two wives without the sex.”

“It hit critical mass a month in because Kristen ‘got COVID,’” Monica said while doing air quotes.

“We thought. So, she was in her room quarantining on her own. At the same time, Dax broke his hand—couldn’t make food, couldn’t help with anything,” she said. Dax chimed in and said, “I had rods coming out of my fingers.”

Monica added, “And then I was there like, ‘Oh, I have to take care of all of these children while they’re on vacation.’ Okay…Bye!”

Dax said, “It was abrupt, she just, like, entered the living room and she had all of her belongings.”

Monica jokingly concluded, “Like many marriages in quarantine, ours ended in divorce.”
