NBC‘s Today is one of the most popular, longest-running morning news shows in the history of television, and has been on since the early ’50s.

The series, which slowly expanded through the week to include weekend coverage by the early ’90s, features an impressive array of established industry veterans and trusted journalists. And as of 2023, there are about a dozen anchors who helm the show and supply the breaking news throughout the week, many of whom have become household names.

Carson Daly has Swifties wondering!

The Today anchor briefly fueled a fan theory that one of Taylor Swift‘s songs will be featured on the upcoming Barbie soundtrack on Wednesday (June 7).

While he was discussing the soundtrack during the show’s PopStart segment, he starting naming artists featured, including Dua Lipa and Ice Spice.

He then said, “Taylor Swift‘s on it — the soundtrack’s gonna be big.”

A clip of the moment went viral on TikTok, leading fans to wonder if he accidentally leaked some big news.

He addressed his comments one day later.

“We cover a lot of exclusive breaking news here on PopStart, and yesterday I said something that sent Swifties spiraling,” he said.

“Let me clear this up: I do not know for a fact if Taylor Swift has one of the new tracks on the Barbie soundtrack It is not insider information that I have. I was merely reporting the idea that out there, Swift fans (think so),” he continued.

He went on to explain that the fan theory came about after she performed her new song, “Hits Different,” for the first time live in Chicago, in which she refers to ex-boyfriends as “Kens.”

“It’s a theory out there, that I hope is true by the way,” Carson added.

One of the new songs Taylor Swift will be releasing next month is called “When Emma Falls in Love” and fans have been wondering: who is Emma?

The 46-year-old country singer accepted the honor during a ceremony on Friday morning (May 12) in Hollywood.

S. Epatha Merkerson‘s jaw dropped when she saw just what Taylor Kinney had his jacket lined with while attending the 2022 NBCUniversal Upfront held at Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Monday (May 16) in New York City.

Carson Daly is speaking out.

The 47-year-old got candid about managing his generalized anxiety disorder in an interview with DailyMailTV on Monday (March 29).

Carson shared that he’s trying to destigmatize anxiety by talking about it openly and honestly. He’s also partnering with an organization called Project Healthy Minds to help people confront their struggles head on.

“I think it’s the most urgent problem that faces our country today, especially young people,” he said.

The Today Show host also revealed that he was partly inspired to address his mental health issues publicly after reading an article NBA star Kevin Love wrote for The Tribune.

“And he was being very vulnerable and honest about a panic attack he had had before an NBA game, and as he was describing it during the piece, I was like, ‘Oh, my god, that’s me,’” Carson said.

He added that one of the most surprising things he’s learned through Mind Matters, his special series on Today that tackles issues surrounding mental health, is how many people are quietly suffering with mental illness.

“I mean, the numbers are astronomical when you think about mental health in this country,” he explained. “People aren’t talking about mental health and if they are talking about it, they don’t know how to get help.”

Carson shared that he suffered his first panic attack while working for MTV during his days on TRL and that it took him a while before he sought professional help for the issue.

Despite that, Carson still loved his time on the show.

“I miss it all. I love it,” he laughed. “I took my my 12-year-old son Jackson by Times Square and I was looking I was like, “Man, this used to be a sea of kids holding up Eminem signs.”
